Born with embarrassing vocal chords similar to those of a teenage
boy going through puberty, Myela knew from an early age she’d never make it as a Rock Star. Despite her disappointing
ability to harmonize, or lack there of, she still had that self-indulgent itch to write and a shameless lust to perform. Growing
tired of the same unanimated, dull, insipid, dry, flavorless, monotone, poetry readings, she decided to try something a little
different…She put down the notebook and involved the audience in here interpretation of poetry fueled by fire. With
influences from poets like Audre Lorde to punk bands like Blackfire it’s often unclear what you’re watching. Explosions
of Feminist, Queer, Native American, and Environmental, politics, side-swipes her everyday human observations, raising heads,
raising questions, raising awareness. Conservative, radical, in-between, no one is safe from her blunt scrutiny, including
herself.
